Have you ever asked yourself what it means to be happy in this life? It is not about achieving and accomplishing things that are being planned by others or even ourselves.

It is something that is much more complex, it is the harmony between three essential aspects: the head, the heart, and the hands. When all three are in harmony, one is bestowed with a purposeful and fulfilling life.

It’s useful to break it down and see how these three help you get to the point of having optimal fulfilment.

The Head: Vision and Clarity

Your head is a metaphor for your mind that allows you to think, dream, and plan for the future. This is the department where your goals are defined. Without direction, life becomes a type of aimless drifting, as if one is lost in a fog.

Ask yourself: In other words, what is it that I want to accomplish? Am I being too modest with my goals to accommodate my dreams or is this what I’m capable of?

Your head provides you with a direction. It is the voice inside you that responds, ‘This is the end of the journey. This is what I want my life to be like. ’ But vision alone isn’t enough. To be honest, you need something to lead you and something to push you forward.

The Heart: Passion and Purpose

The heart is an embodiment of your mind, it is the passion that you have that pushes you forward when the going gets tough. Thus, it is possible to stay committed to goals and objectives only if the heart is involved. Thus, if the heart is not involved, even the most clear-cut vision can be rather pointless. When your heart is involved, the tasks that you undertake are no longer tasks but duties that have meaning behind them. You don’t do it for the hell of it; you have a purpose that makes you happy deep down.

Take a moment to reflect: What makes my heart race and why? Which of the following are closest to my heart; which causes, issues, or dreams? How can I make sure that the things that I do are the things that I want to be doing?

Thus, the heart brings passion into the equation and transforms the vision into a mission.

The Hands: Action and Execution

Action and Execution While the head provides the vision and the heart provides the passion the hands are the implementers of the plan. The hands are a symbol of action, the actual work that you do every day to achieve your dreams. Vision alone, no matter how inspiring, will remain a vision if one does not act on it. The gap is filled with the idea of implementation that connects the two points – the present and the future. Here’s where many people stumble: they wait for the conditions to be right. But let me tell you this – there is never a right time to begin. In every given situation, progress always triumphs over perfection.

Ask yourself: What steps can I start taking in the present new year to achieve my goals? Are I acting every day or am I holding back because of fear or doubt in myself?

Your hands give shape and form to your vision and the passion that you have. They are the tools that enable one to convert ideas into tangible outcomes. The Power of Alignment When these three elements of your life are not in balance, life becomes chaotic. You may have big ideas in your mind (head) but do not have the feelings (heart) and the discipline (hands) to achieve them. Or perhaps you’re taking action (hands) but feel lost because you have no goal (head). But when all the three are in harmony, that’s when the magic begins. You get up with a purpose, work with passion, and at the end of the day you are happy. It isn’t something that just washes over you and then disappears – it becomes a routine.

Conclusion:

At this point, where are you? For a moment, pause and assess your life in some manner. Are you thinking big and embracing your potential with the help of your head? Does the heart supply the passion to these dreams of ours? Have I employed my hands in undertaking activities that bring these goals to reality? It is possible to be happy and fulfilled in one’s life, but it doesn’t just happen – it is a deliberate process that includes all three elements.

The question is: Are you willing to go the extra mile and live the purposeful life that you were called for starting today?
